Permitting

Palm Beach Hurricane Windows, Inc. takes care of the permit applications.

The permit package contains:
1- Up-to-date Florida and Miami-Dade Product Approvals for each type of window/door to be installed. If mullions are used, their PA should also be included.
2- Contract.
3- Floor plan.
4- Sales Order.
5- Design Pressures calculations if the proposed installation is going to take place in a building. Note that if the building is 6 stories or less, we make our own calculations. If it is 7 stories and taller, then we require the services of a professional company. We normally use the services of Engineering Express. For more information, click here: www.engexp.com
6- Letter of Approval if the property is located within a community that has a HOA/POA.
7- Notice of Commencement (NOC) if the job is over $2,500.00. Click here: www.mypalmbeachclerk.com/recording/noc.aspx
8- If the property was built before 1978, a Lead-based paint inspection has to be performed by a professional company. For more information, click here:  kpascale.com/services.html
9- Deliver permit to the city and pay application fee.

Overall permit cost:
1- Permit price is valuated by the cities starting at 2.5% of the total cost of the job.
2- Engineering – 50.00 for a normal job.
3- NOC recording and certification at the Courthouse – 20.00.

Palm Beach Hurricane Windows pays for all these expenses which are collected from the customer upon completion of the job.

Permits and Codes

What Are Your Code Requirements?

Many local and state authorities have enacted stringent building codes to help home owners to protect their properties and families. This is a result of many severe hurricanes that have ravaged a few states over the last decade.

Every state and even some counties vary when it comes to building codes. Always check with your local building authorities for the most recent standard and guidelines in your area prior to building a new structure, or remodeling an existing one. For those of you in Southern Florida, we will handle the permits and will be sure our products and methods are covered by our local codes.

At SafeHarbor®, we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that our impact-resistant windows are hurricane-ready, and in compliance with as many building codes as possible.

(If you are outside of our service area be sure to check with your contractors to ensure they are fully licensed to construct hurricane-code compliant properties. This may not necessarily be applicable in all areas, but is a requirement of many local governments of south coast communities.)

Our Code Is Safety First!

Every Impact-Resistant Window features a laminated glass system with a .090″ thick interlayer. This added membrane will provide the impact resistance that many building codes demand.

Impact Window Construction

Other Key Features:

Locks with greater durability, which offers great theft protection.
Lower noise infiltration for even greater peace of mind.
More rigid frames for durability and longer life.

Don’t let your windows be the weak point of your construction project. Combining beauty with hurricane resistance can set your project above the rest. Shutters and other hurricane protection options don’t always allow for optimal views from both inside and outside of a home!
